I think an optimal age to get into 3D design now must be around 10, though we have shown kids aged 5+ how to get started. As so many kids are well used to computers and have a lot of control of the mouse they very quickly pick-up the basics and get used to panning around an object to see what their changes look like from different angles. Today’s individual lesson was an 11 year old boy who worked on Tinkercad to modify a robot and also assemble a model of the millennium falcon. The print itself will happen tomorrow as we ran out of time today after the boy worked for a couple of hours on his designs!
3D printing into courses for kids (including their first 3D print) cost €15 and for adults €29 (which includes the piece of cake we use to explain slicing). No appointment is necessary but it’s good to call in advance!
